i know not really a P3 subject, but when I got home today after a flight I went to play my video and QuickTime was having a hissy fit with it. Kept stuttering all the way through. I then played it using Acer video player (I have an Acer laptop) and it was faultless.

So is there a setting in QuickTime I've missed or what's going wrong?

It's just quicktime. No real fix. Use VLC Player and you should get smooth video playback

I have the same issue with VLC... my laptop is old though (2011). QuickTime plays smoother than VLC does for me when playing .mov/.mp4 videos. There are videos on youtube that show you how to get the VLC running smoother on 4K videos.

Yes, and it usually performs better than the other players on a given computer. Don't overlook the fact that your computer may be too slow to handle the video, particularly if you are looking at 4K.
