Sorry for your Loss.

This Problem is another Pilot Error. You need to have at least 11/12 Satellites + a Strong GPS Signal before taking off and flying.
Without GPS the Spark enters in a mode called - ATTI. In ATTI Mode the Drone won't hold position, so it drifted away for you. You still could have Landed it with your Remote Controller if you use one. Maybe you lost your Video Feed and Panicked ???

This will help other New Pilot take interest in knowing about 'How to Fly a Drone' before flying. Taking everything forgranted will end up losing your Drone if something happens and you don't know what to do. So be prepared and READ, LEARN and WATCH VIDEOS !

Watch this Video and next time learn that you need to do is - READ THE ''@~$@%~^~$@***'' MANUAL ! Then Update Firmware, Pre-Flight Checklist, Compass Check, etc...

I tried landing with the remote but it wouldn’t and just went. Would it just fly until the battery dies? I have put in a case with them but what are they like at replacing them?

I am sorry that your Spark flew away. Let me help you with this issue. The best thing you can do is to know what really happened to the drone.  Please try to sync your drones flight record using your DJI Go 4 application. Once the flight record is synced our DJI Analysis Team will assess it and give you the result after.

This doesn't make sense as you should have been to manually control it when you lost GPS. Did you have the remote control or were you using a phone?

I was using the remote. And it wouldn’t let me control it at all which I thought was strange and the record shows it got to 52mph which I didn’t think the spark would go that fast

When you go into none GPS mode (ATTI) it can start to drift in any direction, but as far as I'm aware, you can manually control it. Something else is wrong here it sounds like...

It will land once disconnected and it has no GPS fix.  Otherwise with a GPS, it will return to home.  Where was your last recorded home point?  I think it might head or that.

It must be just showing you the last valid GPS fix the drone had and the app recorded.  It would start landing a few seconds after the remote controller's control link was lost.

That is, what I think.
Starting in atti, getting gps, but not recording a homepoint, loosing connecion, starting rth to whereever.
Or starting rth in that moment, when seeing gps and "opsi, far away, lets go"
And because of no connection, no chance to interupt the RTH to nirvana.

How far away was the last recorded homepoint, you can  think off, in that direcion?
In my understanding, this spontanious speeding away looks like a RTH behavior.
When it had /found GPS midair, how many sats and did it record a HP?

Just an idea:
Try both records, that one with the last flight, no Homepoint, and that one with the recorded HP,  6.5 miles away.
Just to check, if the flightdirection from the fly away was in the direction to the old homepoint!

Oh, for the records, try this:
http://www.phantomhelp.com/logviewer/upload/

And post the links of both  here, please!

Would it go back there though and would it reach that far?

That is the question.
Has it gotten GPS and has it have only the old HP stored, b/c of no app connection.
Thats what I like to find out with your two records!
Is the bird setting a homepoint, or is it the App only?
But it has to be saved in the bird, so we may have/find a clue, why some birds may "fly away"!
I just dont start/fly mine, before I have a recorded HP notfication, anymore

And yes, it can almost get there, if the batt is 95ish %, methinks.
But the bird wouldnt mind, anyway!
As soon the bird "sees" it's position, and the stored homepoint needs all batterie, or even more, it will RTH to that position, mehinks.

And you have no connection between RC and BIRD to interrupt that.
So it flys till battery gets critical, then it starts landing.
And hovering in 30-50cm, till empty!

So please, check the 6.5 mls away RTH point and look if that was the direction, your spark disappeared to.

How could it?

".. then it just said disconnected and vanished ..."

As I wrote, it seems you had no connection, minimum to the phone.
But the spontanious leaving of the drone points on no RC connection, also!
I try to understand the fly aways, you are sounding certain to know that the HP from the last flight before was about 6.5 mls away.
So it is worth to look into the possibility, that your bird saw the "HP" far, far away.
And needed to RTH instantly.
Not having a RC connection allows that. And gives no chance to interfere with it!

I don’t get why it went 52mph also and it stuck in sport mode when it wasn’t even in sport mode on the remote

It says 52mph because it has bad GPS location data.

How does it even know it is traveling?  It needs accurate GPS location from one second to the next to determine accurate speed.  No speedometer unless it extends a wheel to spin along the ground and measure the wheel rotation speed like a car.

The Spark moved fast because there was no GPS for the autopilot to use while it arrested the drone's movements.  The autopilot keeps the drone stable and moving slowly.  The rapid flying uncontrolled into the distance is the pilot's actual flying skills on display.   The Spark's autopilot in ATTI hands all control of the drone to the pilot.

It doesn't look like it disconnected the radio control link because you still had battery data and other data being sent back and forth.  The video feed was likely the only link lost.

2. Upload the record here  http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
3. Post the link to the record in this thread.

Hi,

Yes, no really new information in your flightlog, it is was we expected. No satellites at take-off. Spark flew in OPTI mode; kind of stable flying.
When the visual reference went away it switched top ATTI.

If i am right than the Speed information without GPS signals are software calculated, and not always give the correct values.

As you see too many errors, my advise is to use a proper checklist before flying. (https://forum.dji.com/thread-151418-1-1.html)
Cheers

If you have read my checklist....never start flying with less than 11 satellites.
Flying in ATTI mode can be hard to control if the wind is blowing, even for experienced flyers.

Ik have no idea what DJI will tell you.
