Hi everyone ... I'm a novice in this kind of contest ... so great ...
I hope you enjoy this video, as I have loved to do it Tevignano Romano on the lake in Italy - Next to Rome
tips and story of footage on sailing race Italian championships
thanks to all to share yours so fantastic video/foto and tips
I'm sure that at the end we will be all winners, learning a lot
anyway .. here my video experiences ...
History of the place
Here we are in Trevignano Romano in Italy ...
This small town is located near Rome, on Lake Bracciano, founded on the ruins of an ancient Etruscan city (civilization before Rome)
here we find the Church of the 1500 and dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption in heaven, on the foundations of an ancient sacred building in Gothic style and the ruins of an ancient castle located on the top of the village.
Being built on a large lake, it is excellent for practicing water sports such as windsurfing, kite or sailboat ...
Video
The video is born from the passion for the exploration of new places with fantastic scenarios.
During the shooting of the sailing race, just in front of this splendid city, I became interested in this place so full of beautiful images.
Tips :general tip
of tip there could be so many ...
certainly the first advice I think is correct to say is:
1st flies in respect of people, privacy and laws
2nd many checks, before and after each flight to increase safety
3rd good planning of each flight
usually, before taking off, I think what I would shoot and how
4thPatience:
it's not always possible ... so you have to know how to wait ... and sometimes ... give up.
said these few things but basic, the real tip is when you fly above the water
while the shooting of the sailing race was made, the drone flew over the water ...
one day at the end of three consecutive flights, the drone had a problem with the downward dual vision sensors and then issued a message on the screen, where calibration was requested via DJI Assistant
Obviously, we did not have a computer with us, so that day that drone remained down stationary
In the evening, after the successful calibration, he resumed flying regularly
so the TIP is: better not to forget to turn off the downward dual vision sensors when you fly on the water. ( we can save little battery life too)
if you liked the video and find it interesting, do not forget to share it with your friends on your social networks and maybe give me a like ...
I'm still a beginner ... like many of us ... and I need your help ... especially in this contest, so beautiful and fascinating
second TIP : Video Editing
the recordings of my videos are made with these camera settings:
4096 x 2160 / 60fps - ISO 100 - MOV format.
Automatic White
style custom -1-1-1
color D-Cinelike
variable shutter speed, as well as brightness in accord with the scenes
but even here the true TIP is the Histogram On
In order to optimize the data trasmission speed between drone and Radio control
the drone transmits to our tablet/phone to the slightly different image (color, depth, white, light) and also why tablet/phone have a screen with different settings
so ... turn on the histogram and keep it under control, because the lights, colors change and then just adjust the settings.
when the column, the wave ... comes out of the side or it's too high and goes out ...
this means that a part of the colors of the light ... has not been recorded.
so in post production it will not be possible to adjust, correct this error
Keep the histogram under control, the wave in the center and inside the rectangle
Other TIP
Sometimes when pilot a drone it is difficult to maneuver the two joysticks and the tilt camera wheel, or it will be necessary to use an Inspire with the second pilot.
so a tip could be: cinematography camera movement tilt
record at the highest possible resolution
in post production add a black bar below and above (border size) which makes it look more cinematic
and then play with the offset in order to correct the cut of the photograph
or maybe should be better create a dynamic offset that gives the tilt movement that you could not do correctly during some of your shots.
this helped me a lot in filming this video, hoping to give a nice effect, with more dynamic and fluid camera movements.
but again, I'm always a beginner ... I love this job very much ...
piloting a drone ... making videos ... taking pictures ...
here on this forum I continue to learn many things from you, from your shares, from our daily problems ... from your exceptional shots and videos.
I hope all this was useful and that you enjoyed it
do not forget your thumb up, and sharing ...
the last TIP but for me the best TIP that a friend have told me
the base, usually ... the rule I followed usually ... tells a story
this is done by a photograph that looks the power of the sea, the erosion, the waves..
a face of a tired person, with a line of people waiting in the background ...
in video footage ... it could be a knife ...and than with a camera backward movement ... the scene widens and you see blood, and then a woman with a dirty dress in the middle of a room ...
here this is a few seconds clip , that tells a story with a machine movement called camera backward ...
so now , the drone give us the best way to do ours backward movemnt with infinite space and panorama ...
just find your best spot ... and shoot your best EPIC clip ...
maybe ... sure ... much better than my ... with only few seconds clip ... but ... tell your story ... your scenario ..
sailboat championship? hobie cat?
great work done ... good
I found you here
great video, great footage done
I bet it was a great busy work during those days of competition!!!
Excellent tips to read, thanks for sharing here
very interesting the part of the camera movement tilt,
but what program did you use? in post production?
Final cut? Adobe?
Yes It was ... busy and hard job ...
basically... I was only a part of this project...
but was very fun and interesting under many points of view
Post production has been done by Final Cut ... really a fantastic program
Technique for Tilt : just add border size ( on top and bottom through effects and letter box )
Than set aspec ratio ( 2.35 ) put on the beginning of the clip selected and set offset in letterbox menu ...
add a keyframe ( get yellow) move at the end of clip selected and change offset again ...
So now you have a dinamic offset in letterbox effect
You can see this also selecting your clips
Right clic on mouse , and show video animation
Good luck but much more important.... keep to fly and try
Maybe the best TIP is try and then try again getting fun

it would be nice ...
now I'm still working on a project in Italy ...
I'm not sure if it's possible here. I think it is forbidden to fly over a train.
I have to get informed ... but anyway there are many bridges, where to shoot some scene from above ... maybe with an osmo ... and the rest with the drone ...
you can see ... as you said ... just to get inspired ... and your videos / tips give a lot...

Yes, it is illegal in NL too, so I have to stay away from them.
But you do get very nice shots from some distance.

in Italy, we are working, with an adapted spark, and then authorized to fly closer to things and people ... and with other machines, such as phantom 4 pro ...
but there are more permissions to be obtained than a spark 300g
anyway ... many ideas are already coming to my mind ... and I thank you for this.
I will move soon, to follow another project ... I think, I will ask if we can shoot some clips there ...
of course you'll be the first to be alerted my friend

I’m very happy .... I learned a lot through this forum ...
I think is a good idea to share our story and some “ tip “ when we can
Thanks for your comment here , it’s very appreciated
good ... luckily everything went fine for me ...
all the settings made were made as a precaution ...
the downward dual vision sensors, however, gave a real problem, which was solved immediately with the calibration ...
maybe due to flat lake that reflects a lot of the light ...
to take off and land, we have often used grab it with our hands ... to speed up operations.
anyway ... was a fantastic experience done ...
thanks for your comment and contribute here , it's very appreciate
