I asked DJI support for help with this and got an unexpected answer.
I'm having a problem where the radar view (circle with red arrow and (H) home marker inside, and (N) North marker on the edge) stops rotating along with the iPad's compass, but only stops when the Mavic is in GPS mode. I'm almost certain that this used to work for me, but stopped working at some point in the last few months.
How I think this is supposed to work:
- The Mavic's compass controls the direction of the red arrow, to show which way the aircraft is pointing.
- The Mavic's GPS controls where the red arrow/aircraft is located on the radar.
- The iPad's compass controls the rotation of the whole radar circle, with (N) always pointing to the North, so you can quickly see where the Mavic is relative to where you are standing/pointing
But for some reason, whenever the Mavic enters GPS mode, the radar circle immediately locks with (N) 90 degrees to the right, and no longer rotates/responds to the iPad's movements. If I take the Mavic inside, and it enters ATTI mode, the radar circle goes back to responding to my iPad's rotations.
I'm running the latest DJI GO4 app, latest iOS, and and the latest Mavic firmware version.
When I asked DJI, they said the following:
"We do apologize for the confusion caused you regarding to the Radar of the aircraft.
You don't need to worry about it. The Radar appears on the app is the compass of the aircraft.
If the aircraft didn't received any signals, the Radar will takes place for us to know where the location of the aircraft is and when the aircraft already received a signal, it won't rely to the Radar anymore."
So am I incorrect about how this is supposed to work? Does anyone have their radar working, such that rotating your controller rotates the radar view, even when in GPS mode?
Thanks for helping me figure out whether or not I'm going crazy!
