Greetings Forumers and DJI enthusiasts! This is my ultimate tribute to the Now It's Epic contest. I wanted to get creative and make the best out of my trips. Since I have made a couple of other threads be sure you'll check them out:
My goal was to spell "Now it's Epic" with an aerial photo representing a letter, be it created by mother nature or a man made environment. Each picture will have a tip and how I made it so be sure to read till the end! You might need to scroll down a little bit to reach the end .
"N"atural
I'm pretty sure all of you return to a spot which you like in every season. For this particular image I waited till autumn so I can show the roads beauty with colors that pop out.
Tip: Patience, setting a reminder in your phone to a date in a particular season so that you remember when and what to photograph!
"O"CCASION
Not so long I've been making some aerial shots inside of a massive welding company. As soon as I observed the massive metal objects I knew something awesome would come out if I fly above them. My instinct did not let me down, I captured a professional welder having a break.
Tip: It's quite dangereous to fly indoors where you're surrounded by big metal objects.
I used my Phantom 4 Pro to take the necessary shots since I heavily relied on it's Vision Positioning and Obstacle avoidance sensors which btw worked like a charm.
Flying with the Mavic Air needed more dexterity and it was harder to fly because of interfering objects. Will do a detailed review on how to fly in these kind of environments.
"W"ONDER
Common things can be extraordinary. Just like as Google is your friend, Google Maps can become your best friend! Plan your flights before flights and explore places which surround you.
Tip: One framed subject can contain multiple interesting shots. Change heights to capture more. You'll se the S letter was shot at the same location but from a lesser height.
"I"DENTIFY
The picture was shot in a village museum with some vintage tractors.
The perspective that our drones offer is just insane!
Tip: Look for interesting things, height is not always the best way to make something epic.
"T"EMPLE
History has lot to offer. I strongly recommend photographing ancient/old sites and churches. Their arhitecture is just mind blowing.
Tip: Straight down shots work the best to show the sturcture and shape of a particular building.
"S"INGULARITY
When going on an "adventure" I strongly recommend bringing your wife/girlfriend/friend/family to act as a spotter. While it's pretty unsafe to lose your drone out of your eyesight a second person who keeps an eye on your drone is priceless. This picture was taken at the same location as letter "W".
"E"ARTH
Little planets still amaze me, and I consider them the coolest thing our drones can make. Mavic Air is just the perfect tool to obtain a stunning immage.
Tip: As I have written above, old buildings have the most spectacular shapes.
""ATTERN
Even a waste management facility can offer something incredible. Imagine it being a shower head or a lamp but it also acts as a ""
"I"NSIDE
Taking pictures in the heart of a forest is my second favourite thing.
Tip: When you observ different types of trees between dominating ones, lifting your drone up might reward you with a "Gem" of a picture.
"C"HANCE
Tip: Don't forget to try different angles. In some cases approaching the subject sideways instead a downwards facing camera angle gives you an awesome perspective and you don't need to fly that high.
Thank you for reaching the end! Hope you liked my thread! Feel free to ask questions, and share your thoughts!
