Those are not surfers most of them are kids, the waves werent good for real surfers.

Really great shot!!! I wish the camera shot in 16:9 format...you have to do a lot of planning taking a shot you know you'll have to crop later to get 16:9 to fill your monitor screen.  Your wonderful pic, sadly, would not be able to be cropped to 16:9 because great subject matter is at the top and bottom...surfers at the top and really neat waves/beach at the bottom.

I hate to disagree with you...since you took the picture...but when you zoom in on the pic those are definitely some type of surf boards/bogie board...you can see some kids sitting, some laying down with legs off the end of the board...the board outline is too symmetric to be anything but a board...it also looks like someone just trying to catch a wave.
