What you need is a otg cable, micro A (orB) TO USB C.
Check ebay, look for something like this:

This is what you need:

Type C goes to your phone, the micro goes to the RC. This is what I used to use, until I realized I may brake my phone's  charging port by mistake so I gave up using an OTG cable all together.

That is the reason for using/recommending 90° plug cable: Not so much pressure on the RC's jack and fits into the RC with the phone

I know, but it doesn't come home, it goes to the customs post office. And I have to travel 100 km there and back again and usually there's a huge waiting line and it's more of a hassle than I can take.
This discussion reminded me of this and I searched again and found a suitable 13 cm right angle USB type C cable so I ordered it. It's confirmed, time and again, despite what everyone here secretly thinks, this is not a completely useless forum.
