So many variables! How to chase these down? Any ideas?

[size=14.6667px]Known... Phantom 4 Version 2
[size=14.6667px]1. Worked perfectly every time for the first 5-7 flights. No hiccups. Found and saved HOME every time.
[size=14.6667px]2. Recorded beautiful video every time
[size=14.6667px]3. Batteries always fully charged

[size=14.6667px]Then:
[size=14.6667px]1. Began requiring calibration every other flight location. Turning off both bird and controller would sometimes allow flight.
[size=14.6667px]2. Today, recording would run for 2-3 second and then cut off. (Red DJI 4 record button would turn solid.) But videos kept running on bird. Images show 2-3 second and then black screen for duration of video.
[size=14.6667px]3. This morning (8-18-18), an in-field update was installed but have no idea HOW the controller accessed it as the iPad Mini was only wi-fi and seemingly disconnected. Unless someone had a hot spot that it jumped onto? I watched the screen install. Hmmmm? Did anyone else have a Phantom 4 V 2.0 update today? When I got home, I checked for updates and there were none.
[size=14.6667px]4. Magnetic interference screen showed up several times today when we were in the middle of a street or parking lot and at different locations.
[size=14.6667px]5. And for the first time, the bird and remote lost contact for about 30 seconds. The bird was in proximity of 400 ft away and 200' high. Should this have happened?

[size=14.6667px]There are some many variables to chase down. Does anyone have a logical troubleshooting procedure I should follow?
[size=14.6667px]Any ideas on these anomalies, guys? Will DJI fix itself?

Began requiring calibration every other flight location.
Magnetic interference screen showed up several times today

What required calibration?
If you are seeing a red message top of screen that's telling you  Magnetic Interference Move aircraft or calibrate compass, that's telling you that you've put the Phantom very close to steel or live electric cables.
The solution is never to calibrate anything.
The only appropriate action is to move away from the source of the problem.
Never attempt to launch from steel or reinforced concrete surfaces.

Unless you modify or rebuild the Phantom, you should never have to calibrate the compass.

I think you need to address one issue at a time.
First as lab has already advised if you ever see a magnetic interference warning (dont do the calibration).
Move the drone to another location, never take off from a concrete surface or near any metalic objects this includes cars and fences.
You mentioned the drone and rc lost contact !
It appears you are flying in an urban area this is going to cause a lot of radio interference and black spots due to buildings and other obstacles. Try switching the radio frequency of the drone to 5.8 ghz that should fix the issue of interference from wifi networks and cell phone networks.
Once you have those 2 issues resolved then try another flight and see how things go.
If for safety sake you feel there are still problems you could try flying with a tether attached to drone this will prevent any possibility of a flyaway untill you resolve all the problems.

GREAT news!  Freshly formatted and updated batteries made it ALL go away and fly right!
HUGE thanks to all you seasoned pilots!  Many thanks for your sage input.
This anomaly is one of the biggest domino effects I have ever seen in the world of electronics.  It 'should" be easier and self-diagnosing.
DJI....are you listening?

Hi. We're very sorry for the late response. It's good to know you were able to sort it out by updating the firmware. Please let us know if you still need more help.
