Hi all, I have my batteries set to auto discharge after 7 days. I know you should always charge your batteries the night before you fly, so my question is, what if I charge the batteries because I think I might want to fly the next day, but don't end up actually flying until a few days later. The batteries are showing 4 green lights, but I know I should not trust those if it has been sitting a few days. My question is, is there a way to recharge it to 100% when it is still showing 4 lights or do I have to turn my drone on and leave it on until it only shows 3 bars then recharge fully?

Just simply plug the batteries into the charger it should automatically top them up

Hi there, thanks for reaching DJI Forum. If you're not sure if the battery is still in 100% level after you charge it in a few days, I suggest you try to turn on your aircraft with the battery and test it by removing the propellers until the battery level goes down and recharge it. If you have further question, please let us know. Thanks.

When I try that, the green lights stay off, so I assume that it is not charging it.

Then it must still be fully charged.

Plug your battery into the drone turn on and check battery state of charge if 100% or very close you should be good to go if in doubt then discharge them a bit in the drone then recharge again.

Be careful when running the motors too long with no props, removing the props also removes the air cooling of the motors...

Guys ... I believe the P4 battery has the same 'trick' to top it up as the P3 series .....

Switch the battery ON and then plug in the charger. This over-rides the boards detection of high state of charge but still allows it to shut off at 100%.

DJI P series batterys have a default block on top up if charge level is from about 93% or higher ... and the OFFICIAL DJI way to over-ride is to switch on battery and charge.

In fact I switch on my batterys for EVERY charge even from low level ... and I find I do get a slight improvement in charge ... without - I often see 98 - 99% when plugged in to AC ... when charged with battery switched on ... I see 99 - 100% when plugged into AC.

See my post no. 9

No need for running any motors / draining down ... it is actually very simple to top up a DJI battery.

If you need to top up an intelligent flight pack that may have begun auto discharge, just turn it on before you plug it into the charger.

Thank you very much that is much better than turn it on and let it run.

I seriously “topped up” my four flight packs last night.

Yeah, they were already depleted down to a 20% voltage... ;-)

Almost a Deep Cycle. Hahaha

If you want to run the motors without props, or even while you play with the onboard Flight SIM,
place the drone on top an upturned fan, or in front of the air conditioner.

Or after you plug it into the charger - don't think it makes any difference!

I only do it in the reverse order.

Battery on first, then plug into one of my chargers.

Ah. but that would be a very rare occasion anyways.

I keep having to top mine up mine because I want to fly, but this heat is too much in the summer. In the past 2 months Ive been able to fly 2 or 3 times if I got up really early on a weekend. This depresses me.

Yes, since it’s a hobby, and one we love, our time has to be shared with our other pastimes and loves.

But you do need to spend some time appropriate to your passion for the sport.

Plus, the more you fly, the frequency will multiply. Ha

Wear light colours and loose fitting... and a large sombrero, mucho gracias señor!!

I think if I was out in public with the hat in the 1st picture they would probably hall me off to the loony bin.

Yes, but not if worn in Dubai, where poor millionaires frolic in the sand and sun... ha

That last hat is creepy. For some reason reminds me of a hammerhead shark.

Better to not keep topping up unless you really expect to fly.

Let them discharge down to storage ... betterv to use an hour charging back up when you are going to use them - than keep them topped up and then end up buying new batterys !!
