What’s the sence of not being able to play the video from a 3.0 flash drive on my new 4K Samsung tv. I plays great on my Mac air laptop but the tv will not even show the video file to play it back. What are you all doing out there to get around this issue. Thanks!

Is the video in h.265 and if so, can the TV handle that?

I've got a 55" Samsung 4K Smart TV.   My files play just fine.   What happens when you try play a 4K video.  Is the TV giving an error message when you click on the file?   Do lower resolutions play OK?

I always downloaded from my phantom to my computer photo file then drag them to my 3.0 flash drive and was able to play back on tv when inserted to the usb on the tv. I could play  2.7 , 1080, no problem always watched my video and pictures. Mavic air I download from drone to computer to photos and then drag and drop to my 3.0 flash drive and ever thing transfers and I can watch on my computer but only the pictures show up on the TV no video of my flights.

No I have not been able to play the lower resolution either.

Did you format the drive in your Air or using your laptop?

Does your Samsung want to see .mp4 or does it also support .mov?

Also, you could post a short video that doesn't play somewhere we can look at, like Dropbox or some other file sharing service.

I don't believe I did a format when I first installed it into the drone but I have formatted it several times since. I have a new Samsung 4K UHD TV that we purchased about 6 months ago. If I did not format the card on first install on the drone do I need another card now? Thanks for the help!

What about your Samsung's compatibility with file types? I assume since you are a Mac user you configured the Air to save .mov files? If so, have you tried feeding it .mp4 files instead?

I have tried both. It downloads to my mac perfectly. Tonight I filmed in 2.7 and 4K the video and photos downloaded beautifully. When I drop and drag to my flash drive and play on the TV I get nothing.

What format standard did you use for the flash drive? It might need to be something basic like FAT32 in order to be compatible with the Samsung. Your TV specs should declare its Flash drive file system compatibility.

I am going to buy a new thumb drive. The 8g internal card in the drone is MS DOS (FAT32) and the new card that I purchase is a San disk Extreme plus 64g the format on that card is EX FAT.

As Fruzen asked, is it encoded with h.265? Try h.264 your TV perhaps can not decode h.265

Only a quick starter guide came with the new tv. Where do I Find the Mov and MP4 settings? I have searched for ever and I don’t see anything in settings.

I looked at notes on the video file and it was h.264

Maybe matching the the two cards in the drone with two new thumb drives and matching each one individually will do it.

No, it's just a file system. The only time it's really a problem is when you want to connect a flash drive with a given filesystem to a target device that doesn't support that filesystem.

I don't know if this is your TV, and to be honest, I can't make heads or tails out of the table, but it may be that 4K video is only supported at large sizes at certain frame rates:

Under Supported Video Resolutions and Codecs: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00049184/

Under the Decoders section:  "Above 1280x720: 30 frame max"

My guess is your Samsung TV cant read exFat formatted cards. I have the exact same problem with a brand new 2018 LG UHD TV.  I had to format the card (64GB Sandisk Extreme Pro) in the TV (to FAT32) then everything worked. The only problem is now the maximum file size is 4GB so 4K videos longer than a couple of minutes get split up. Oh, and I have to stick with H.264 as well :-(

I have my tech friend coming out this coming Saturday to look at it.I will let you all know what he finds out.
