My original P2 battery is about 7 months old and has started to puff, the Assitant says 92% life remaining.  DJI and my dealer say the warranty is only 3 months and not covered and this is an 'unknown error'

Why has DJI now realsed a software update to address puffy batteries !???   Can I expect a replacement now ?

the warranty is 3 months, so you can't replace it for a new one.

Could you please provide more details about your problem so that we could better diagnose and assist?

What do you consider a "Puffy Battery".
Can you still insert your batteries into the Bird????
A true puffed battery will not easily be inserted into the battery bay.
Many posts with photos show a slight wrinkling within the battery segments and this is confused with Puffing. believe me now or believe me later, iff your battery is truly swelling (puffing), YOU WILL DEFINITELY KNOW.  It will not go into the bird!!!!  Cease using and move on.  

DJI replaced it.

Glad they changed it, I bet you get a request soon to change you avatar to something besides a DJI logo.

Mail would you please change your avatar for me! You are only able to have a DJI logo or DJI in your user name if you are a DJI employee. If you do not change it I will have to delete your account and I do not want to do that.

Thanks, but your user name was fine. It is your avatar (picture) that is the problem. Your avatar has the DJI logo and we prefer users do not use the DJI logo. That way other users do not get confused and think you work for DJI.
