Hello. I've noticed in the EXIF header of Spark images (a/c firmware 01.00.1000) the GPS coordinates are much lower precision (4 decimal places) than the Mavic's (8 decimal places). Can someone at DJI tell me whether that's as good as it gets or will it be enhanced in a firmware release?

Thanks.

As far as my SPARK is concerned , landing is precise until this moment.

I think Daryl is not talking about RTH precision, but about the coordinates stored in EXIF data where pictures have been taken.

Interesting...I have to check how exact the EXIF on my photos are...I'll report back.

Good point, I have never checked, going to take a look soon.

Hi Daryl,

You're right, GPS coordinates in photos taken with the Spark are only accurate to 1 arc second resultion. That's poor IMHO.
1 arc second means an inaccuracy of up to 44 meters (equator area). At least one extra digit would give decent accuracy.
I still have to determine whether the position of the Spark is used in the EXIF data, or if AGL height and gimbal angle is also taken into account, which would be a nice feature.

Cheers,
Wolfgang

Purposefully crippled like the Mavic. The Spark is every bit as capable of autonomous flight so the accuracy is there. DJI chose the limit the data for some brilliant reason. 1/10000th of a second is needed for at least a chance.

Hi Daryl,

Sorry, took me a while to get Sparky up...I can now confirm, that the gimbal angle and the height is not taken into account. So the GPS position stored in the EXIF data is the position of the Spark, not the coordinates of the photo center. I almost suspected so....

WoW
Just noticed this myself!   Here is an example of two photos taken just the other day.   One with my Spark, the other with my Galaxy S8.  Both photos are posted in https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... p;page=1#pid1628781 thread.

Spark:
