DJI Go Application - Future Release Feature Request:

Most of my DJI Drone Flights are 3D Mapping Missions.
The third party app we use offers "Terrain Following" based on
the STRM Sea Level Elevation World Mapping Database.

I believe an Optional Pre-Flight Barometric Sensor Calibration Routine

in the DJI Go Application would be extremely helpful and beneficial.
I propose this routine would simply allow the pilot to input a known Sea Level

Elevation for the Updated Home Location prior to starting the next flight.
This known elevation then is updated in the EXIF Photo Log as the

Reference Elevation and the current barometric pressure sensor reading

is zeroed to the Pilot's Optional Elevation Input.

With this calibration option in place, all EXIF Data recorded on the flight

photos would be more accurate and this process would probably eliminate the

post-flight EXIF Elevation Adjustment Process.

Additionally, active terrain following accuracy is improved by reducing the

elevation error induced by flying on an uncalibrated altitude barometric pressure sensor.

The aircraft does not care what the elevation is above sea level. It needs to know the elevation above th take-off point for it's own needs.

While what you say is historically correct, I would like DJI and the third party software developers to be able to move forward with more accurate sea level elevation modeling in the aircraft and software we use. The sea level elevation of the aircraft becomes critical when flying in mountainous terrain and using terrain following software. The sea level elevation of the aircraft will become more important as services like LAANC Airmap Live become available, reliable, and user friendly. AGL Elevation is useless information to provide Airport Traffic Control Personnel when trying to coordinate safe airspace use.
