How guys, thinking of taking the Mavic air and launching it from a Jetski, is that possible? I am worried RE compass calibration issues and the vibration while I am riding the ski..any tips and or arvices? Thanks

Wouldn't recommend a launch from a jet ski, but look forward to seeing the results. Good luck.

Launching could work OK, but landing is going to be interesting!

I would never launch from a boat, let alone from a jet ski. Flying over water is scary enough but how would you land the drone???

is it because of the water and landing sensors? should i disable sensors?

I get it, but how would you hand catch the drone on a unstable jet ski without risking it to slip and fall in the water especially if there is a good possibility that the sensors are off ?????

There would be a risk of losing the the Mavic or remote even if the conditions are ideal. I hand catch and launch my Mavic 2 with no problems. If you are determined to do it, make sure you have a Gopro hooked up. It will be a popular video either way

I always enjoy post like this.  However, I do believe the title should be "I figured out a new way to loose my drone, what do you think?"

Launching and landing from a boat was a terrifying experience.  Couldn't imagine doing it from a jetski.  If there is zero wind and if the surface of the water is like a sheet of glass, then maybe.  Otherwise, I wouldn't even consider it.

It’s very important you update your homepoint before takeoff because if you at the right time you do it, the MA will fly fast to the last known home point.
When you have already updated your homepoint, you can fly with no problem

If you can spanish...

Not the best of ideas but it should go.

My friend said his son just bought a MA and launched it off his boat which was in deep water.
Flew a few feet, did a twist and sunk, never to be recovered. They figure a prop disengaged.
No insurance and now no MA.

Launching close to anything metal can be issue, return to home if signal lost would be fun, drones done hold their height over water in particular well.

I launch from boats often. Sometimes if engine is running and I’m close to the engine I get mag interference issues, never if the engine is powered off. If A.I. am solo the engines off and I’m anchored....

I have tons of miles flying over water so go for it. Land/hand-catch it because home point recording will be off. It'll definitely be tricky not trying to get it wet on a jetski. I've ridden jetskis and everything gets wet.
