hello all, I will be visiting the USA ( California , San Diego ) Do I have to register my drone with the FAA to fly in San digo or LA  if I'm not a US citizen ?
And if so can I know that steps where to start from.

Yes,  you must register with the FAA here before flying anywhere outside in the US. Register under "Section 336" if you're only flying as a hobbyist (just for fun).

not really no..just fly safe and smart and dont cause any problems all should be good   i haven't registered my drone with FAA and i live here.

you far more helpful than i am on this topic...

however im just blunt in saying doesn't really make a difference....  get nothing in return, no assurance of anything, just a ID number which will never get used. had a few brush ups with police and they never even asked for my drone's info.. beyond the name of it

Lots of people break laws in the US every day and don't get caught. Sure, you could break the law and not register. It's not really the best thing to do though.

but i would understand its usefulness and logic of it,  if the police asked for it during investigations of complaints and such... but its basically completely useless because never gets asked for or used.. atleats not universally.  i also dont imagine police have any way fo checking directly of the ID you gave them is even legit because i doubt integrated intot heir systems

airmaps is very useful int he US..  weather channel/accuweather with real time alerts enabled and airmaps enabled is good starter tool kit

B4UFly is the FAA app I always upload my intentions before I fly not sure if anyone sees it though.
If you dont already use UAV Forecast, thats another helpful app.

airmaps is better for it because you can see others and you can fly threw airmaps app if you want to

u select fly for fun or part 107?   sometimes fly for fun  or part 107 will not show some zones

So I have applied for the FAA License 336 for fun I have downloaded the AirMap and I wanted to fly in San Diego Sun set cliff  Boulevard I’m getting a message telling me I need to have class D requires FAA Authorization  what does that mean .???

Class D control zones are from ground level to 2500 feet and you need permission to fly there and must be in contact with air traffic control ( I think)

Where exactly are you trying to fly?  I can tell you if you can get LAANC Author or not.....I am in San Diego

I just read Sunset Cliffs......you won't get auth to fly there,  you are under take off flight path of KSAN Lindberg Field......but you can fly north of Pacific Beach and into La Jolla.

I want to fly at sunset beach and La Jolla , in general is it easy going to fly in San Diego :-) thanks a lot by the way

Again I do not recommend you flying at Sunset Cliffs.  If your drone will even take off I don't know.

Just be aware of people and don't irritate anyone......mostly people are interested and curious.

So is it ok ? Or no I didn’t understand

After checking the DJI Geo Map........I'll be damned!!    There is an area along Sunset Cliffs that DJI does not restrict.......but the FAA does show as a no fly zone.

Keep it under 100ft and you should be good......but check the Geo Map so you know where DJI allows flight, so you can let someone know if they ask.
