It seems like a theme of my photos is the overlap of industry and nature in Portland, OR. This city is known for its location in a beautiful part of the country. People have worked hard to create natural areas within the city proper. At the same time, it is a busy and growing place, and industry and nature are often side-by-side. These are a few photos which I think capture this tension. By the way, I crop to 16:9 because I use my photos as introductory slides in my classes, and that is what fits.

I think you have hit the mark. BTW, it is better to shoot at 4:3 and crop later, you get bigger photos a full resolution that way, just a thought. Well captured and edited

Thank you. The RAW files are 4:3 but the processed JPEGs are cropped for the slides. I was too lazy to make an uncropped version.

In the first photo you can see Mt. Hood, and in the fourth, Mt. St. Helens.
