Thank you for the head’s up!

Whilst it’s good to see TC finally updating and confirming DJI’s official statement, since one must go by what the government states and not DJI, it would seem the certification is barely worth the proverbial paper it’s written on, since you’ll note NONE of DJI’s drones are approved for Near or Above people flight operations, making this certification a JOKE.

I mean SERIOUSLY? Even the Matrice line isn’t certified to fly near or over people??????

Whilst an argument can be made about certification to fly over people, as only two drones on that list have that right, almost ALL the other drones listed can fly near people! DJI, THE LARGEST drone maker on the planet, can’t even get certified to fly near people? Is that a call out to their reliability?

I know there are unanswered questions here, namely how this certification was done, and whether this is the Canadian Government and Transport Canada being idiots (which they are on a hourly, much less daily basis), but drones like the Matrice, Inspire, and Phantom’s, perhaps even M2’s, should be given certification to fly near people in advanced flights! Otherwise, their usefulness in controlled airspace (which is often in population centres), means they still won’t be legally able to fly advanced missions due to population proximity!

Very disappointing!

Looks suspect. As those drones certified from the film industry are bespoke rigs able to carry 35 kilos of camera gear - or lights in one case. Nothing against those rigs at all but it seems very odd that the smaller lighter DJI drones don't qualify (yet) - given the amount of extra engineering invested in safety and overall reliability so that 'Joe public' can fly these drones without crashing or causing danger to other members of the public.

Well at least operations within controlled airspace will be possible.
