RC requires joystick calibration every flight.

Since I install a goodluckbuy gimbal on my Phantom 1, just about every time I connect the battery and go to the remote to fly the drone, I have no control and cannot start the drone motors.  To get control back I initally connected the Phantom to a computer and re-calibrated the joysticks and everything is fine until the next battery change.  (I have since learned to calibrate the joysticks without using a PC by using the RC).  Is there anything that I should check for so I don't have to re-calibrate every power-up?

Thanks in advance.

ShadeTek.

I would uninstall the gimbal and see if the problem still exists.

The thing is, the set up worked fine for 2 months after installing the gimbal so something in the interim has casued the issue.  I will get round to trying this out though.  I am suspecting another user may have put the RC batteries in the wrong way round as he has already fried the charger by connecting the leads up the wrong way.

Another "User" ?

If the gimbal is not getting power that should be very easy to tell.

Like Dave said, disconnect the Gimbal and try again.

I re-applied the firmware and reset the Naza and now all is well.

Excellent.

And thanks for returning to post the solution.   SO MANY fail to do that.
