Seems that some people have a film and then a screen protector over the display on their controller and others just had the protective film.

How many screen protectors did you have on your controller?

Just had a film but added a screen protector.

Would have been entirely happy if one had been fitted already

I was happy one was fitted on both my mavics,   PS you forgot to vote for option 1.

Something else, i deal with product returns and i have seen the recent, or at least what i assume to be recent change to controllers coming with 2 screen protectors. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the case at release, as i remember cleaning up some controllers and they only had 1 protector.

Where's the option for "None"? Also, what's the difference between "protective film" and "screen protector"?

On mine there was a protective film that had taps to make it easy to remove and under that a properly shaped screen protector.

4.  Nothing applied to the screen for protection.

Remote Controls came with DJI factory screen protectors (small tab for easily removal).  
First R.C., removed factory screen protector and applied 3rd party screen protector.  
Second and third R.C. removed DJI factory screen protector and have nothing else when in use.  
For all three R.C.s when they were not in use, put on a combination screen protector and joystick protector.

I think dji Mindy has cleared up the mystery and it looks like it was normal to find both in some cases .

Oh, didn't realize you meant what they came with out of the box, mine was a simple protective film like hallmark007's photo -- original Mavic Pro, a month or so after they hit the market. I've since added a 3rd party cover that protects both the screen and joysticks for transport:

I thought I had just the initial screen cover but I looked again and there is also a nicely applied screen protector on mine as well. only got mine a month ago so maybe its a recent change in policy?

I have had two Mavic 2Pros (one was returned with a manufacturing problem under advice from DJI and replaced} but both came with a peel off screen protector and a more substancial one with no "peel off" tab as in Hallmark007s photo.

For me, only the protective film. just to ensure that it doesn't get scratched. It won't be useful in the case of hard knocks I guess

My guess is that the ones that came with an actual screen protector did so because it was previously used, and the DJI tech that was "refurbishing" it didn't notice that the screen protector was on it before he put a new piece of protective film on it.

I hate screen protectors of any kind. Have never used one on any phone, camera, drone controller, or any other device.

You need to get the good ones and have them properly fitted,  apple do a protector inshore that's gorilla glass like the actual screen and they have a special machine to fit it so that its 100% perfect.  But its expensive.

The protective film is for manufacturing purposes!!  It's supposed to be removed.

Removing a screen protector increases the quality of the experience by 3x.

I'd prefer to have a protector than get a scratch and by annoyed every time I see it.

They don't scratch.  They aren't like old plastic.  I think it's made of glass or really high-quality plastic.  It's not going to scratch easily.  Plus, if you are looking at that instead of flying then you have your focus in the wrong place.

Glass scratches pretty easily, I'm sticking with a protector.

No they fit two,  one with yellow tabs that's to be removed and then under that there is a screen protector.
