Driving the Mavic 2 Zoom drone to go around some mountains, it loses the signal and begins to return home.

Turn in the direction of the takeoff point, then go up to the 50 meters you had configured to do the rth, but on the way you will find rocks that you have to overcome.

If mavic looses signal initiating RTH it will first retrace the last 60 seconds of its outward flight if it reconnects it will wait 10 seconds if no reconnection is made or controller fails to take over it will go to Rth height and return home using OA to avoid obstacles. There are only two occasions this won’t happen , inside 50m or outside 2000m.

You video seems to show a situation whereby RTH was initiated by the controller, and is a good example . Thanks for posting .

Huh, so when you have signal failure 2000m or more from the home point -- what happens if RTH is not an option at that distance?

If you lose signal at further than 2000m craft goes to Rth height and flies straight home.

Ah, it skips the retrace your route step and flies straight home, gotcha. Wonder why?

Would think it’s to preserve battery flying out over 2000m will always mean good chunk of battery used so if you add 60 seconds potentially flying further away maybe danger of using up much needed battery time, I’m speculating here but with some common sense .

I guess? A voltage check could inform that decision tree and is already used in other failsafe computations, isn't it? But that does seem a likely answer -- 60 secs is a long time at the edge of the performance envelope.

Interesting video it is.

At detecting an obstacle, a M2Z stops and ascends until no obstacle is sensed.

in the video at the first stop craft descends just a little and start again to fly forward.
At the second sensed obstacle it did ascends, than fwd flying.

Why not acsends at the first stop?

cheers
JJB
