Has anybody upgraded your old version of  ESC and MOTOR on PV2+ to the new ESC v2 and Motor 2312? The reason I'm asking is because I just bought the upgrade parts but have not installed them. I'm not sure if after the installation the GAIN must be adjusted being they are stronger motor, different ESC and props are slightly wider and stiffer. If so what is the right GAIN setting? and would the PT2 asistant program automatically recognize the changes? If I don't change the setting I'm afraid it might fly unstable and crash. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Hi, I haven't done this upgrade but I did get the Version 2 Phantom today which has the upgraded ESC's/Motors/Props.
While I was in the assistant changing my bird to Naza mode I noticed that the factory gain settings on the new Phantom are the same as the default settings applied by the assistant to both the Version 1 Phantom 2 and the version 2 Phantom 2 and it also flew very nicely with the same old version default gains.

whyley27 - Thanks for the link that was very helpful in prepping my installation. The only thing I am worried about is the soldering part.  I only  have a little experience on this matter I guess I have to watch soldering 101 first. I guess GAIN doesn't have to be adjusted since it was not even mentioned on the video. I will just leave it as is.

You're welcome, yes a 45 watt iron will work, however others advice a slightly higher wattage for the joints which connect to the ESC, the motor joints are slightly smaller. Also, you might want to fit the motors to the ESC's before they are fitted to the Phantom, outside, that will give you more room to solder them.

uhayat - Great advise, I was actually  thinking of that soldering the motor to ESC first before installing it to the body and soldering the ESC to the board.  This upgrade becomes more expensive than I thought. Now I have to buy a good soldering iron, lead, desoldering pump, Flux , desoldering wick and Brass Solder Tip Cleaning Wire. A good $70 more. My budget for this is already at the bottom of the pit. Lol

A little help with soldering basic. Bruce Simpson of "RC Model Review" has an excellent video on Soldering techniques for RC planes.  One point that he makes is that a temperature controlled unit is best.
