Hi folks,

the picture down below was taken with ISO 100 and cropped for better detail visibility. Actually all of my photo- and video footage has a clearly visible heavy camera noise, of course I pay attention to a low ISO value.

For a 2.3" sensor that should not be that visible. Am I wrong or what's your opinion?

Hi, thank you for reaching out and we do apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please try to reset the camera settings in your DJI Fly app to see if the problem persists? Also, I will forward this noise issue of yours to our designated department for attention. We will surely keep you posted once we have an update. Thank you for your understanding and support!

Hi Gamora,

until now I did not recognize that there is a reset button. I will try that out tomorrow and give you feedback. Thanks!

Actually if I compare these shots with my Galaxy S7 and it's 2.5" sensor by shooting RAW at ISO 100, the noise coming out from the phone is also very noticeable. The results in JPEG are far better. So my thought is that the noise reduction algorithm of the Mini is simply insufficient and can be improved by updating the camera firmware.

This is what you usually get with a tiny sensor with that much MP's.
You have to rely on noise reduction that the manufacturer adds.
DJI still has work to do on that department.
You can do a couple of things:
- Low ISO (duh)
- Expose for the right part of the histogram (noise is mostly visible in dark area's)
- Try short exposures (long exposures reveal more noise)
- Keep the sensor cold (not much you can do about that of course)
- Use AEB and a good HDR merge editor.
- Shrink the files.
(you probably only need 6MP after all and DJI should have put less pixels on there to start with)

And for the rest you can only hope DJI will add better (not stronger) noise reduction.

All valid points there, not much more you can do.

I even see noise in my Nikon D750 captures if I fail on these.

Both images look like low light, so I would expect some noise.

Same for me, when light is a bit low, the camera image are very noisy.

Another thing I noticed is that, because of the adjusted dynamic range on the mini, big areas of colors with very small variation (like trees) suffer more from artifacts than let say a building.
Low light and a forest will bring problems, however having the sun behind and some contrast in the image will lead to more desirable results.
With photography you can expose for the dark are and the bright area and combine for HDR, will give you less noise.
Hope it helps!
