Yep, I'm starting to wonder if is better to use Vimeo only for drone shots, will retain more detail.

I'm inclined to agree. I've seen some pretty chewed up videos from youtube while the same video on vimeo looks great. Plus a personal experience of mine on youtube is submitting video in one resolution and it never being available in that resolution. On more than one occasion I've uploaded video in 1080 only to have the highest available to be 720. And I have a couple of times uploaded in 2.7 k from my mini and have only 1080 available once youtube was finished with it.

That is weird, never happened to me, maybe YouTube limits quality unless you have a certain number of videos or subs? They do cripple accounts regarding monetizing so maybe is got something to do.

The thing with YouTube is that I had some videos upload with very decent quality, others terrible using same settings. I read the other day is better to upload with more quality, so YouTube compression does less "damage", but my first flight video shows jumps and artifacts that weren't there, and I used a bit rate of 30mbs...
