Shot February 1, 2020 at White's Ferry in Poolesville, Maryland with a DJI Mavic Mini and an iPhone 11 Pro Max. Produced with Final Cut Pro X.

It’s like the river-ferry version of “Fast and Furious.”


Production note: Most engine sounds were added in post-production. This audio was recorded that day, but not at the very same time as the video.

I've been on that ferry many times, nicely done. Is it a mix of Mavic Mini and iPhone 11 video, or was it all shot with the Mini's camera?

Thanks! Almost everything was taken with the Mini. The last four minutes of the ferry docking were taken with the iPhone, crouched on my knees. All of the still photos were taken with the iPhone.

Thanks! I used the “Music Memos” Apple app to record, with the built-in mic. In retrospect, I think that app was a mistake. It was hard to convert the file into something useful. Apple’s “Voice Memos“ app would have done just fine.

I added the sound later with Final Cut Pro, fading it in and out where I thought it worked.

Your sound worked well,  Ive used the voice recorder before,  I keep seeing people recording audio in the middle of nowhere for 10 hours and Id love to know how to do that.

Great job , I’m not a big fan of ferries , but I love the contrast oof the mini video footage, you did a great job, nice flying .
