Hi!  Anyone else having this issue with their 8k hyperlapse footage?  Is there a codec we're missing out there?  Greatly appreciate the help

Hi TastyJams, gray squares are not the issue of the drone itself, it is about the computer hardware, some computers do not support decoding 8K video (8K decoder is not configurable on every monitor), it is recommended that you have a try with the device that supports 8K video playback and it should be played normally. For the video player, we recommend PotPlayer for Windows systems and SPlayer for macOS.
