I just looked up the U. S. A. ADS-B requirements on the U. S. A. FAA website.
It appears that almost all aircraft here are required to have it now
Look again.
You'll find that ADSB is required to fly in most controlled airspace.
That's:
- Class A, B, and C airspace;
- Class E airspace at or above 10,000 feet msl, excluding airspace at and below 2,500 feet agl;
- Within 30 nautical miles of a Class B primary airport (the Mode C veil);
- Above the ceiling and within the lateral boundaries of Class B or Class C airspace up to 10,000 feet;
- Class E airspace over the Gulf of Mexico, at and above 3,000 feet msl, within 12 nm of the U.S. coast.
I turned in that notification feature on my newly added DJI MA2, then ensured I was in flight with it when our local - regional UPS Cessna Caravan flew over
Anyway, no notifications from dji fly app about this named acft flying over.
Lots of General Aviation aircraft don't fly in controlled airspace and so won't be using ADS-B
Assuming that all aircraft will show will give you a false sense of security.
The aircraft that are most likely to be close to your airspace are the aircraft least likely to be using ADS-B.
