Buxton is in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, as you may know.  There's an amusing, well-documented anecdote of a local cricket match being abandoned to SNOW in June or July. In 1964 I think it was.  No, I've checked and it was 1975:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Road,_Buxton

No I didnt know that,  it was 2 years before I was born.

That is the big downside.
But I don't mind the cold.
The mess that you get when the snow melts is another story.
(and that is what we typically get after 1h already since it is so warm in NL)

Yes, the grey slush churned up by vehicles doesn't have quite the same allure as fresh snow, does it.

Merci kalou. c'est des images de l'hiver 2018/2019. Pas encore de neige ici cette année ( juste un peu de grêle la semaine dernière)

Ugh!  A cold shiver just ran through me at the thought. Now I need a hot coffee with a Calvados livener in it, to warm me up I got an hour's droning this morning - in sunshine and cloud - and dashed back home before the rain. It's pouring down again now.

Ah. Well cold is relative then   It must get far colder up there than we are used to.
