Hello,
I have had my mavic air 2 for a couple of months now but I still don't know how to control it better. I normally fly it very close to me given some out of control incidents.

1) I had three incidents that the drone suddenly elevated itself to a higher altitude during the tracking mode. One time it got stuck into a tree above. I have the brief video with me but the forum doesn't allow any mp4 video upload. In the video it shows that I didn't do anything but the drone suddenly lifted itself.

2) I always charged the batteries to full every time after I used them down to less than 10%. But a week later, the batteries became 65% even they had not been placed on the drone.

Any idea for above two?

Thanks.

We post our videos on a free service like YouTube and provide a link in the post.

I have learned that it is best to have a lot of room while active tracking at anything over a jogging speed. Even so, I have had some close calls with obstacles. Do not assume the MA2 will stay in a straight or level path while tracking. Can you post the log (.txt) file here?

The batteries will automatically partially discharge if not used for several days. That is normal to extend their life. Read the user manual for the MA2, page 25.

This was the time when the drone got into the tree

This was when I tried to lower its height on the controller but it kept lifting itself up

Hi,

First flight ; smart batt forced a RTH, craft started to climb. [ normal behaviour ]
Second flight ; smart battery forced a RTH, so craft started to climb .[ normal behaviour ]

In both flight there was a 9 to 1 countdown....

Best is to start a flight with a full battery, and bring craft manual home with 30% batt level.

BTW  60 meters is high for a RTH height setting.
cheers
JJB

Ah, that explains. Yes, on both cases, the battery was low. Thank you.

Both of your questions give away that you yet haven't read through the more extensive 54 page downloadable user manual ...

Download it here --> https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/Mavic_Air_2/20200615/Mavic_Air_2_User_Manual_v1.2_en_.pdf

I urge you to read it through & then search up a bigger field, free of people & obstacles & try everything out ... it will save you from future disappointments & mishaps.

Hello there jiec168. I am sorry for the trouble this has caused and thank you for reaching out. In addition to this The DJI Mavic Air 2 has an Auto-Discharging function to prevent the battery for swelling, the battery automatically discharges to 96% of the battery level when it is idle for one day and automatically discharges to 60% of the battery level when it is idle for 5 days. It is normal to feel moderate heat being emitted from the battery during the discharging process. For additional reference I will post a list of the intelligent flight battery safety guidelines. Thank you.
