If you ask me... the Mini 2 almost killed the Mavic Air 2. With DJI launching the new Mini 2 and all its new specs, unless you have professional needs, you almost don't need the Air 2 anymore. The Mini 2 can do almost anything the Air 2 does, except for one key feature... Active Track. But in my opinion, that's it. If you don't even use or need Active Track, there is no reason to buy the Air 2 anymore. The Mini 2 is so good that it can be your go-to camera drone. It has wider panoramic shots, a lot cheaper, no registration required, same stability as the Air 2, it just does the job well. If you don't mind the lower specs shots as well as the missing ActiveTrack feature, you're golden. You guys agree? What do you think?

Really? I'm a hobbyist and can think of 30 reasons to buy the MA2 over the Mini 2 so I totally disagree:

1. HDR Video
2. 4K-60p Video with H.265 Codec
3. Obstacle Avoidance Sensors in Three Directions (not just downward) with IR Sensor
4. APAS 3.0
5. Active Track 3.0
6. Smart Photo
7. 48mp Stills
8. Asteroid Quick Shot
9. Vertical Panos
10. Faster Speeds (42.5MPH in S mode, 26.5MPH in N mode and dives at 11.2MPH)
11. Longer Flight Times (34 minutes vs. 31 minutes)
12. Battery Connector Sensors
13. 1/2" QuadBayer Sensor vs. 1/2.3" CMOS Sensor
14. Precision Landing
15. Landing Protection
16. Flight Assistance
17. 1080p- Slow Motion up to 240p
18. 5FPS AEB
19. Hyperlapse (up to 8K) in 4 Submodes
20. Point of Interest 3.0
21. Quick Release Props (no screws)
22. Spotlight 2.0
23. Burst Mode
24. Comes with ND Filters Out The Box
25. 8gb Internal Strorage
26. 120mbps over 100
27. AUX Light Built into the Downward VPS
28. Internal Cooling Fan with Magnesium Heat Sync
29. More Robust Build Quality
30. 1080p Live Feed to Your Device Over 720p

It's always better to actually own a product for a while to get a good understanding of it before judging it...

The Mini 2 looks great for travel, flying with less restricted regulations due to weight and it's awesome that it now records 4k-30p and has OcuSync 2.0. Whilst it has firmly replaced the Mavic Mini it is clearly nowhere near being on the same level as Mavic Air 2 let alone replacing it. Great for beginners, those on tighter budgets and those who live in countries with heavy restrictions.

For an average person you're probably right.    But people always strive for the better version of something.

There is a market for both.
I tend to agree the difference is made smaller with the arrival of MM2, but some features of MA2 are really showstoppers for people.
Exactly why I choose to buy an expensive Full Frame DSLR over a crop sensor version.
Both can make great stuff, but I just 'need' the bigger sensor.

Indeed, there is a lot to like with the MA2.
I'm curious what the next 'pro' drone will be from DJI.

Based on track records I’d say put the M2 Zoom, Pro and Air 2 together add some extra features and slap a C1 cert on it with a £1500 price tag.

If they can manage to keep it under 900gr a zoom lens with 1"sensor with all the 'M2P' features should do the trick for that kind of money yeah.

I think it is realistic.
If they make the M2Z just a tad lighter and with a bigger sensor (ok, that might be a huge challenge because it will need a way bigger lens system)
Lets rephrase my statement.
It is probably a big challenge, but DJI solved big challenges before!

Def realistic - DJI can easily pull that one off

Should be. Although I'm not sure if the 'zoom' concept was a big success judging by the (low) amount of posts you see made with the zoom here.
I might be wrong, but it feels that way.

Hello Dorito Fellow, thank you for reaching us out and I appreciate your inquiry. For a quick technical specifications I have a link here that you can check. This is a comparison between the Mavic Mini, Mini 2 and the Mavic Air 2. This will be helpful in terms of specification differences. Always fly safe and thank you for your support.

Just got my Mini 2 and I can say with certainty, while the camera is better then the first mini, it has nothing on the MA2.  It's not even close.  The quality is more in the original MP category IMHO, even with the 100mbps.

I quite like using the Zoom on the MA2 (albeit digital rather than optical) but I would never choose it over a superior sensor and camera profiles (which is why I returned my M2Z in exchange for the M2P)

I think zoom is rather handy, especially with the extra distance you can keep from a subject.
But, indeed, a good sensor is prio 1 for me.

Lots of releases and updates over the past couple of months - getting everything ready for the new year. Next release has to be either the start of the Mavic 3 series or a brand new design/model

They might release a pro drone that is < 900g soon.
Just to keep up with the new EU rules

Good for you, you can read the brochure. I also can read too..but that's not the point. MY point is.... most of those things you don't even NEED.

Also.. I OWN a Mavic Air 2 also... so I also understand the product.

Yes... Mini 2 is no where near replacing the Air 2.. which is why i said ALMOST.

For me the M2 is a fine companion for the MA2, I don't know how many times I couldn't take off with the MA2 because of restrictions. The only rule is fly safe and don't do anything stupid.

Thanks for the post.  I have the Mavic Air 2 which I do not use for professional work.  Your feed back further encourages me to get the Mini 2 for the portability.

Not even close to almost. I have both. The Mini 2 is fine for just playing around, but the MA2 is much more of a powerhouse. On my second flight, I was flying over a mile away before I could realize it. Much faster, I really want the 43 mph for action videos. The Mini 2 is like a fun size candy bar, good but not nearly as filling.

The Mavic Air 2 has a lot more power and flying in wind is very different do to the size and weight. It can push through head and cross winds more effectively than the Mini 2.
