Today’s Firmware update for DJI Mavic Air 2 – v01.00.0460 has added support so the remote controller can also be used with DJI Mini 2.

Does that mean no re-pairing / re-linking needed every time?

No, it means you can use the controller on the MA2 or Mini 2 but you will still have to re-link each time you switch drones. It doesn't take long, maybe 30 seconds.
It is also true that you have to re-link if you even change to another same-type, like one MA2 to another MA2. I have been doing that between my two Minis for months ;-)

Hello there epaminos. Thank you for reaching out regarding the inquiry with the DJI Mavic Air 2 remote and the DJI Mini 2. Please be advised that we need to relink the remote to the aircraft in which DJI model you wish to use. If we use the DJI Mavic Air 2 first then interchange to the DJI Mini 2, we need to relink the remote to the DJI Mini 2 Aircraft. Thank you.
