Does Mavic Pro lock GPS while flying at night as well or is it just in day time?

Hello there Ace Shrestha. Thank you for reaching out and for the inquiry. As JJB posted on post #2. Yes, GPS works at night as well.  Unless you are indoors like in a cave or somewhere the GPS signal can not reach the said DJI drone. Thank you.

Luckily it does.
Otherwise many would get lost driving around without navigation.

Does your mobile phone stop working after sunset? Satellites obviously operate 24/7/365

Everyone has to learn about this stuff at some point and being pathetic and teasing is really quite childish and reflects more on those posters than the OP.

Well done the OP for having the sense to ask in the first place.

Since i am new in the droning field, i prefer to ask the professionals rather than make a mistake if i don't know soemthing.

Most places do not allow you to fly drones after sunset.  You should check to make sure its OK in your area.

I realize this thread is a couple of years old, but I just stumbled on it tonight .... but I figured it couldn't hurt  to point outthat just because your are able to use the technology, and abilities to use abilities to. Use what we have made aren't really the issue in the context of the OP's question. The OP did the right thing (IMO) by asking a question no matter how obvious the
answer may seem to others. Information is really the key purpose of forums like this one. .....and we've probably  all have
heard the expression " there are no stupid/dumb questions."  ..... to be true in general, but even more so considering
the OP being new to something and looking for information....

What surprised me most about this thread was not just the fact that the OP was made fun of for asking his question, but no one pointed out
that it's the LAW to fly a personal drone for pleasure only when the drone's operated can SEE his or her drone....that (I'm just guessing here),
would seem mostly to apply to being in direct line of sight during daylight hours. Distance alone can make "line of sight" impossible
just because most of us can't see
a relatively smalll flying object in a vastly larger sky.  Maybe the lights on most drones can help to a degree as the sky gets darker
after sunset, but nothing ....except maybe
an INCREDIBLY TALL ladder will help see a drone (no matter how.large a drone is) if it's beyond the horizon....or JUST  IS FLYING  ONLY
30 feet away, but blocked by a structure or natural obstacles
like a thick clump. of trees. Maybe a small hill that's high enough to block line of sight.

I lived in the mountains in Colorado
for most of my adult life.... such natural terrain is very common in half the state.

The FAA made "line of sight" the law in 2016 to my knowledge......so about 4 years prior to the start of this thread. So it's not only
a good idea , but it's also the law .   "Return to Home" certainly can give us a degree of confidence that our drones with that GPS feature
won't just fly away..... but as my brother likes to say " if something can go wrong, it eventually will!!"
