After the update (I have bumped  the colors to be more visible)

So no, apparently they didn't fix the DNGs

No software is released with all bugs fixed. Different bugs take different time to fix. A release is made when appropriate containing those that have been fixed.  Don't expect each release to fix all the reported bugs.
Certainly DJI would be very aware of the DNG lines issue and I'm sure somewhere a development team are scratching their heads trying to fix it.

Probably more important things to do first.
I have a feeling this 'stability' is more than just that.
They will likely have found some bugs that needed smashing asap

I've done a long range test right now and wow, the signal is suuuuper stable now.

I've been flying in an area where before I had some reconnection issues (2-4  times per flight) and now I didn't get a single one.

Before you could barely fly with 2 signal bars and now seems like you are flying with 4

Problems with repeated requests to calibrate the IMU have not gone away. There is no straight movement in Sport and Standard modes.
It seems to have gotten even worse ...

I really wish they would fix the gimbal issues myself and a lot of other people are having. Some people say it’s normal and it’s a safety protection but I just don’t see how. Mini 1 rarely had these issues. The issues I’m talking about is in normal mode pointing the gimbal down to 90 degrees and reversing jerks the camera up and also in sports mode while flying forward it makes the gimbal dip down and you can’t bring it up until you slow down dramatically.

Is it ok to recharge a battery after a short flight when the battery reads...let’s say 73% and does that count on the battery recharge count?

From my experience the return to home do fly in straight line, so I start to wonder if the drifting/cornering is not issue in the controller.

Anyway seems that we continue waiting for the next patch.

So, the excessive IMU calibrations and pano DNG images issue, both of which I am annoyed about are not fixed. Not happy.

I believe you are 100% correct.  I'm betting DJI considered the stability problem as a "safety of flight issue" and gave it priority 1.  Whereas, the camera issues are important to users they most probably will not cause a crash, hence priority 1 not assigned.  Just my guess.

I still got the message: IMU Attitude error' when lifting and turning the Mini by hand. Anyone the same message? Or is this a normal behaviour?

Fome folks use this as feature, hand catcing the drone and then rotate it upside down to create imu eror and kill the power. So i guess it is normal to get such errors when you move it arownd .

Interesting. This should be the reason to send my Mini back to DJI for replacement, but I doubt.

The SC team is hopeless! Took them 4 months to make it compatible with the Air 2, and it's still running Fly V1.1.16

Any idea or prognostication if a firmware update will allow for some of the more advanced camera functions found in the bigger Mavic series, such as follow me?

two or three software updates over the life of the product otherwise not enough was done to fix issues at launch.  these drones you can almost guarantee they will need a software update right out of the box which is why many users don't do it and probably just fly on what they have.  would be very interested to see what the actual take rate is for these.  dji really needs to do a better job so they can fix the immediate issues found by customers right away after launch; second pull together a comprehensive update that includes the long term fixes plus the hardest fixes including features, etc, and a third final that will hold the product thru the rest of the lifecycle providing stability.

I can bet the row processing and video processing is not in-house and they use some third party or OSS solution, and they have no idea how to fix it, and are waiting their contractors.

Flying software is in their own domain so they could fix and ship faster.

However this does not stop us from asking

Updated to this latest firmware (which went without a hitch) a short time ago and went out directly for a flight. The signal quality has definitely improved and where I was getting interference yesterday, in the same spot flying today I am getting none!

Thank you DJI for making this Mini 2 even better! It truly is THE perfect flying machine.

Nobody knows (except DJI).
I have little hope the M2 will get much more features on that part.
They need to have a reason for users to get the bigger drone!

Nothing as complex as software development.
So many variables to consider.
I think DJI does a nice job in fixing problems, although it does take time....

With the purchase of Hasselblad, they might even have it in house.

Fake news. Please do not suggest the "firmware is unstable". It works perfectly fine for me and many other Mini 2 owners I have spoken with. Perhaps you did not update correctly.

If they catch the Mini 2 like that is normal to require IMU calibration.

Today, made the update of the Mini 2 firmware.
I noticed the drift to the left when it was acquiring the homem point.
After that, flew very well without any problem.
In my opinion is  the best  drone ever made.

You really should acquire home point while on the ground. Only take off, where possible, once GPS is locked and reliable. Of course this is not always possible, but any drift will be a result of the downward camera sensor not picking up a regular pattern to lock to (and the height limits of that)

Dear Peter,

Thank you for the detailed and technical enriched answer.
In fact, now I understand the drifting associated to the fact that in many flights the home point is being defined when already flying. This happens after taking-off from inside of my apartment without GPS position acquired.
Many thanks!!!!

Yes, it's okay. And yes, such a charge do also count in the batterys charge counts, but not as one charge, as number of chargings are counts in other ways!
