I was thinking the same thing.. Maybe these are better than other carbon fiber props.

These are made by dji so they are specifically made for the P3, and will not harm your P3.

But, they will cut you up just as bad as the photos that you have viewed.

Since when has everyone blindly just purchased what DJI has offered?  LOL

I think the other CF props people used did not have composite hubs, those were metal. As for the CF blade portion, I think these should be fine now that DJI is confirming they're selling it for P3s.

I'd like to see a three bladed prop for the P3.  I've used three bladed props on my smaller quads and they seem to fly smoother and are a lot quieter.  They don't appear to eat much battery, perhaps because there's extra lift with the extra blades.

These props are only carbon fiber "reinforced". So, they are not made of entirely carbon fiber. They still appear to be made of composite on the outside.

Carbon fiber built parts go by many different names.

GRP, carbon fiber, graphite, graphite composite, composite, well, you get the idea. It's a marketing scheme.

IMO, the only reasons other than cosmetics to make a change is if they have better lift than a standard plastic prop or they are lighter.

The metal hub version props would be fine for use provided that they have a nylon locking feature built in.  Other than the locking feature, you could remove the cap that covers the thread and double nut it to keep the blade from flying off during motor braking. This isn't rocket science.

venomx15301, those are okay. You can use any props that have composite hubs.

What i want to know is are these "9450" props the "Thrust Boosted" model or just the "9450" stock props? So confusing.

All 9450 props are the same length (9.4") and have the same pitch (5.0"). That's where the "9450" name comes from. They are all "thrust boosted" -- meaning they have a thrust that is a bit greater than the older 9430 props.

Not all 9450 props are made of the same material though. Some contain carbon fiber -- and, others do not. Some have metal hubs -- and, others have composite hubs.

OK, what is confusing is this, When I had my V2V+ the stock props were 9450's. Then they came out with the 9450 "Thrust Boosted" Props that were a bit thicker/stiffer which I had switched to. Now we have the P3 with 9450 "Composite Hubs". All being 9450's, In comparing these with the stock props that came with my P2V+ they seem the same except for the hubs, don't feel that these are the thicker thrust boosted type. DJI needs to do a better job of assigning part numbers to separate different part versions.

All 9450 props have the same thrust/boost since they have the same 5.0" pitch.

The P2V+ v1 & v2 came with 9430 props. The P2V+ v3 came with 9450 "thrust boosted" props. If you really upgraded your original 9450 props to 9450 props, you have the same props

They are not real carbon fibre props, its just carbon fibre reinforced plastic like many other props on the market. The original 9450 are probably nylon or carbon fibre reinforced as well. Best example are the 4 Euro Aeronaut props from germany, its also carbon fibre reinforced. Dont know if the black ones are stiffer, lets see

So if these have the same specs, what is the benefit of buying these? I fly at some extreme elevations and experience shorter flight times because of the this. Would these give longer flight times and require the phantom to work less because of the harder material or are they going to offer the same performance.

Just ordered a couple of sets.

I should be able to let you know how they work out sometime around Christmas, given the speedy DJI store deliveries.

You are a glutton for punishment aren't you?

I'm sure that an online retailer of the local hobby shop could have you props faster than DJI.

I can't and won't do direct purchase from DJI. The estimated shipping times aren't accurate. When I order, I'd kind of like to know when I'll receive my order and sometime doesn't count for an answer.

Daninho,

Carbon fiber, whether its in woven sheet form, extruded or pull-truded is dark gray/black in color. The factory supplied Phantom 3 props that are white in color may be reinforced, but not with carbon.

The factory supplied props are injection molded thermoplastic. Nothing special for hobby parts.

You can purchase graphite material as "toe" or "wool" for use in mixing a slurry with adhesive as well as mixed into other binding agents.

If the new props are stiffer or lighter, they will aid in longer flight times as they'll be a better airfoil that the thermoplastic props.

I know, the factory props are glass fibre reinforced. I Think the new carbon fibre props are not made like the typical carbon fibre in woven sheet form and epoxy resin because those are kind of handmade. For example the 90 dollar antigravity T-Motor 9*3 props are made like that. I guess this is the way to go when you want extreme light products. I think the 9450 carbon reinforced are made differently and more simple.
