Ok, all good.
I have two computers. My main computer and my wife's laptop.
Under no circumstances could I ever get connection on my main computer. Now I can say it probably has issues withthe serial bus that affects it's ability to communicate over the COM port for the DJI Win driver.
I had tried my wife's laptop on day one with no luck there either. Same problem connecting so I began to assume it was the Phantom's NAZA or VU module.
Today I went back to her laptop, removed boththe Wind driver and assistant, then re-installed the DJI Win driver doe Windows 7 AS ADMINSRTATOR.
During the procedure it asked me to power up the Quad and plug it into the computer....I did
That finished successfully
Next I installed the Assistant (never disconnecting the Phantom). Again I ran the install AS ADMINSTRATOR.
After installing the Assistant I launched it AS ADMINSTRATOR and to my great joy, it connected immediately.
Now it seems to connect almost instantly every time so I am thrilled to know that I may not have to send the Phantom back after all.
