I've been to the Navy base in Keflavik (southwest part of Iceland) a couple of times but was never able to get off base for very long but I can say it does offer some magnificent views.  

excellent. any raw d-log clips of this as download somewhere for pixel peeking?

Not mine,  but agree it looks great.

Now the Mavic 3 looks tempting. Problem is to get there in the right time. Beautifully filmed and great music. Congrats to Stefan Forster.

Sadly Im massively put off because of the lack of the C classification.

Yes, you would think that they would have mentioned something about that and that the Mavic 3 would fit what is required soon. I think that would have improved sale a bit. Future proofing it.

I will wait until the future firmware roll out next year to see what its really capable of and by then hope to have an idea what DJI will do with the classification. In the mean time I will watch with envy of those getting new toys

Ha ha ha ha.... Yes very good idea indeed. I will certainly do the same and hope something good will come out of it. I will probably drool a bit while waiting.

Quite large areas of the island prohibit drone flying. Mainly the tourist areas around the Golden Circle.

Blame the EU for that, they have yet to ratify the classifications so that manufactures can apply the mark. It is still very much in the future, as I have mentioned before, I don't expect to see much ratification until towards the end of 2022.

Odd. EASA said at Christmas last year they were ready and expected manufactures to start classifying this year.  Oh and they've published the rules.

Published, yes, ratified (brought into law), no. It requires agreement across all member states before it is finally available to manufactures to be able to apply the C mark.

The M3 is sub 900g so DJI has designed it to fit into the proposed legislation, along with reduced speeds for the EU market, until the EU pass the legislation into EU law it could change.

Can you reference your source,  as everything I see on EASA indicated the opposite. And the new rules are already in affect.

I doubt they were prepared for the large influx of tourists because of the recent volcanic eruptions.

I didnt realise they had a boost of visitors,   definitely time to wait.  I like to avoid crowds at the moment.

Indeed it is a good time to still avoid crowds.  One day, and hopefully sooner rather than later, we will be able to travel freely again and not have COVID concerns front and center on our mind all the time.  Seems my patience is wearing thin with this pandemic.  Sad, because I know we still have a ways to go.
