Firmware will not update on the controller. It has updated on the Phantom 3 advanced with no problems. When I look on the pilot app it says firmware update needed. When I click on it it tells me that the RC needs a firmware update. I have tried to add the firmware to the controller directly and it will not update. The card I am using  is clean and formated.  Please help. This it all it does. No beeps nothing just sits there.

Out of curiosity what model is your controller?  Its on the back.

The model number is GL 300B

hundleton1 the model number is GL300B. It displays the red firmware update then when I click on it, it displays RC Firmware needs to be updated. Then when I click on the download link it tells me to do it later.

Looking at other posts on this forum, the GL300B's can not be updated from USB but rather through the app, just how this is accomplished I do not know, DJI has a older PDF on their site that references how to update the firmware through the DJI GO app but as far as I can tell, there is no GO app, just the Pilot app. I guess we need to wait to hear more from them how to update these newer RC's.

And now we have an answer.  

There was just a new firmware update released today, according to the information I received this new update should fix the controller issue.

There was also the mentioned GO app released for iOS today, I was able to update my controller from the new app.

I personally have a P3P and was on 1.1.8 and I got the same error message on the app. If you read the instructions it says if you can't through the app just load it on a USB like before then you'll update them from the app from now on

Hi. I had same thing and found a fix. Check here... http://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=26913&mobile=2   Basically, assuming you are on iOS, delete the GO app and re download. The option to update via App was then available.
