Great find DA.  No doubt, Mavic 3 is a beast.  Will probably be even better when/if the firmware updates happen.

It certainly does.  Except in EU they are not selling any accessories for it like the 4g dongle, wide angle Len’s or prop guards.

I hate the wobble you get if you dont.

Just seen an interesting video about Mavic 3 and DJI talking about the classification.  Not looking good.

Me too. Saw a video once about the strain it puts on the arms (if you don't)
Ok ok, what was the conclusion?

DJI said the rules are not finalised so they cant classify yet.  Which seems odd as the rules came into affect in January.

That is my understanding too.
There was an interesting article about this on a Dutch drone site.
The rules themselves are there, but the conversion to technical requirements is not.

They also made it very clear, retrospective classification is not possible.
The CE label is part of the product. So you can't put a new label on an existing product.
That effectively means introducing a new (the same) drone for the new classification.
It can be done, but it must be a new product (at least for the Cx label), which is an expensive procedure.

Is that because of something learned from their advisory liaison with EASA officials about forthcoming rule changes?

For classification they dont go by weight, they go by MTOM - Maximum Take Off Mass,  there is some debate if thats done like plan where they have a certified weight,  or whether its the physical point at which point it cannot take off.

It will be very interesting to see how all that eventually works out.

It just can't be that much to debate over.  Surely they have better things to do.

No there is much debate between consumers about MTOM ,   EASA haven't really issued a definitive description.

Does EASA have a target date set yet?

On a separate note I saw yesterday where a major FPV consortium has brought a lawsuit against the FAA over the RemoteID rule.  Will be interesting to see how this works out, especially since this group has had 2 previous successful lawsuits regarding the FAA.

Yes.  The rules came in January this year.  The end of the transition is the end of 2022.

Ooh.  A challenge to remote ID, that will be interesting as I’m sure once you implement that we will be next.

Dang, just over 13 months before transition ends.  Not a lot of time to get any additional rule changes done.

Case is on court docket for February 2022 so we do have a short wait to see how this plays out.  The majority of the case deals with privacy issues.  Law enforcement is trying to use drone footage as evidence in an upcoming trial but the legality of it's use without a prior warrant is being questioned.

Didn’t they use some in the kyle Ritten case.

And there’s much confusion.  EASA says it’s finalised but DJI say it’s not.

I believe they did but not sure if it was obtained via a warrant or not.

Its like the manufactures are trying to force the transition period to be extended.

That could well be their reason behind their statement.

That is one of the reasons that there are so many lawyers in the USA.  The only real winners in a court case are the lawyers.

Have you seen this lawyer joke?

A lawyer, doctor and priest were on an airplane over the ocean. The plane
went down and the only survivors were those three. They started swimming
towards an island when sharks appeared. SNAP!!! The doctor was eaten.
SNAP!!! The priest was eaten. The lawyer made it to the island, and was
later picked up and returned to port. The press asked him why the sharks
ate the other two and not him. He replied, "Professional courtesy."
