I just received a new mavic 3 today and when I opened it up out of the box before taking the gimbal cover off I noticed the gimbal was pointing at a 45 degree angle. Is this something to be concerned about or no problem at all? It feels like it would be pulling on the camera and gimble but maybe I’m wrong.

Power it up and check if all works well, if it does then no issues

Is there a chance that something could have gotten bent or pulled in a direction it shouldn’t have but wouldn’t cause an error to go off?

Do a visible check on the gimbal and see if all is okay. I doubt there might be something wrong but best to test it out. You can always send it back if you have any issues.

The gimbal now has a ‘lock’ when you power down, it’s not a very strong one though so it can be disengaged my moving the gimbal by hand, when changing ND filters for example. This is perfectly OK and mentioned in the manual.

Once you power down the drone it will re-lock again. As long as it does that it should be fine.

I have been using the foam pad that’s behind the gimbal during shipping to stop the gimbal from bumping the rear arms while it’s in the bag.

Check all of it thorougly! It might be one that has been returned already for same/other reason/s. As DAFlys says, for the price you have paid it has to be 'perfick'!

Well so long as it wasn’t activated I would do the same.

I wouldn't let these guys spooky you. It's probably fine and just got a bit jostled in transit. As mentioned the auto lock isn't super stiff, so it can happen.

I'd be checking for visible damage then firing it up and seeing if it operates OK.

Now if the box it came in is all beaten to hell and back, that would be a different story.
