Every time I try to check for firmware version it times out and tells me to try again.  What can I do?

I presume the drone is on and connected to your controller.

Bad internet connection?

Trying this with a mobile connection or WiFi?

The drone is on and active to the controller and flies.  I am using a iPad Mini connected to the controller using DJI Fly.  All seems to work fine except this issue.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I uninstalled and reinstalled and still get the message.  I also tried with another mobile device with the same results.  It say “Checking Version” for about 15 seconds before this message comes up.

Are you using WiFi or a mobile connection on your tablet?

If you got a slow or even bad connection to the internet, it won't work.
If possible try to update at home using wifi instead of mobile connection.

This is at home on WiFi with very high speed connection. Thanks for the ideas.

Probably you are on the default dns of your provider. And that could be too slow. The assistent 2 is quite time critical.

Try setting Dns to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
I understood you tested already the speed of your internet line, so one possible slow parameter left.

Thanks for the information John.  I did not get a chance to modify the DNS but out of curiosity tried it on mobile connection.  It worked and updated with no problem.  Turned to WiFi back on and out of curiosity tried again with WiFi and it worked.  So crazy.  

At this point it is working and I thank everyone for your help..

Seeing this issue as well. Tried updating on wifi and cellular using multiple devices.
