I just received my new action 2 and noticed that the power/record button on the front touch screen module is much softer and makes a more "clicky" noise compared to the one of the main camera unit.
Can anyone confirm that this is normal .. ?

I have a battery module and after reading your post I can feel slightly more resistance from the lens module button compared to the extra module. But the difference is too small for me to notice just by using the camera.
