So, I have upgraded my firmware and so happy to see the INSTANT RECORDING feature is available now with a simple single click.
It works great!
My settings - SNAPSHOT ON, SET TO RECORD.


But let's say if I don't want to record, just switch it on.
How do we do that?
Right now, even if I do long press or short press or whatever, it directly starts recording only.

I need to know, how to switch in on like a regular thing, without recording.
For recording, I will simply click once and it records, works great.

But long-press should actually switch on, rather than doing the same record thing.

This is DJI ACTION 2.
If you press hold too, it starts to record.
It should simply switch on when you press.
And record only when a single click.

But now long press is also recording.

Right now that is how Snapshot mode is set to work.  There isn't really a work around to turn it on without it starting with the setup Snapshot option.

However, I'm on some beta firmware that the Snapshot mode is going to change a little bit.  In an upcoming release, it will activate Snapshot mode with a single tap to turn on the unit and begin whatever mode you have selected for it. If you don't want Snapshot mode to activate, you press and hold the power button for 1-2 seconds.

This is coming in an upcoming firmware update.  It works really well too with the new functionality.  Not sure when they plan to release an updated firmware but know that it's coming!

So that makes it clear, its a bug right now, right ?

It's not a bug to my knowledge, it's how the firmware is currently setup.  I don't believe this was mentioned in any of the update notes though when they changed it.

It will likely be reverted back to the single press (snap shot activate) and long press to turn the camera on and not activate snap shot.  

It was a design decision, which I and others disagreed with.  It was mentioned in the upgrade notes but in a rather oblique fashion which went right over my head.

Correct!
Just make sure, you dont change anything to SINGLE CLICK SNAPSHOT!
It works the best and is instant.

Just dont touch anything to that function.

yes, we tested the long press time,  (long press 1 seconds is quite long)

will not affect the single click snapshot.

The logic of the new method will ensure that they won't feel like changing it again -

Long press - turn on or off under all circumstances
Short press - start or stop recording under all circumstances.  

Short press when off will be optional according to snapshot setting.  By "recording" I mean whatever is the chosen function eg video photo, timelapse, etc

I had snapshot turned off in my settings. It was one of those features that when I got my action 2, I thought I'll tinker with that later and then forgot about it till now. I turned snapshot on and set it to video record on boot. A quick press and it booted and immediately started recording. Stopped the recording and powered down and then held the button for about a second and it booted up without starting to record and was waiting for me to tell it what I wanted it to do. I would say it works as described. Now that I've remembered snapshot and tried it out, I kinda like it lol.
