Back in early March, I posted a nice picture of a massive elderly Oak tree, just awakening from its winter slumber.
I resolved to go back and photograph it in full leaf, later in the year.  Today was the day. Arrived at the park and - Oh No!
There was a team of tree surgeons by a huge felled oak, grinding out and chipping the remains of the stump.
That one had obviously succumbed to the ravages of time.
Thankfully 'my' tree was still upright and in full leaf.  Phew!
Although access to it is fenced off for preservation purposes.

I prefer the shot in full sun, too.  I expected the same conditions this morning, but by the time I'd travelled to the park the sky had clouded over

Oh wow, that tree is beautiful I want lots of those by my house. it is sad though that one tree has succumbed to age or maybe it was just in the way of progress as some would say.

Thanks   Yes it was something like 300 years old, and I suppose it just gave up the ghost.
Luckily, most of the other trees of the same age are still thriving.

Despite it being a tad cloudy Mr. B that shot turned out great.    So nice to see the tree fully "cloaked" in green leaves.  

Shame about losing the other old tree.

Thanks RDB. Yes the one which was removed was in a particularly boggy patch of land. Maybe that contributed to its demise.

This is so sad,    we dont re plant enough oak trees here.       That said I waked through a field this morning and it was full of tiny oaks that had self set.

Yes, when you see something that has stood for three centuries cut down, it's a sobering thought.
You can probably thank the squirrels for the self-seeded new oaks.  They bury so many acorns they can't remember where they all are ( or get eaten by foxes before they can dig 'em all up )
I've seen Jays doing the same thing.

Overcast here,  and I just found a field full of poppy so I will try and stop there on the way home.    Did a flight this morning and then charged mini3 in the car with a usb charger on route to the MIL so Im all set again.

How long did it take to charge the battery in the car?  Or was it just a top-up?

25 minutes to go from 40% to full.    Its not the biggest cigarette lighter charger but that seemed quite reasonable.

The 30w charger takes an hour to charge a battery from the mains,   so Im hoping when I have more than one battery this would be sufficient to top one off whilst moving to a new location,  I usually dont need more than three batteries but this would give some options,  and especially at the moment when I only have one.

Yes I see that.  1 hour is about the norm for full recharge of any of our drone batteries.  I have three for the Mini One, but only two for the Mavic2Zoom.  I bought it and one xtra battery at the time. Should have opted for the |Flymore kit as well.

Interesting !

I was quite relieved to see them there, they also have Mavic 1 batteries too so theres a good chance they will be around a bit longer,  especially now as DJI stopped selling them.
