This old tow-truck has been here so long, trees have begun to grow through and around the chassis.
I'm not sure if its and old Bedford, or a Dodge.  Anyone know?

That was my first thought, but the slotted vent holes in the bonnet made me think it might be a Dodge.

That's similar, but this one has the longer bonnet.

Hi Depp.  They've been there for a long time. I guess they were intended to hold the cab together. Not sure how much longer it can last

It;s from the 1950s as near as I can determine. But it's been there for a decade or more to my recollection.

Did they have VIN numbers back then?  I don't think they were introduced in the UK until the 1980s.

The only difference is the ventilation slots in the bonnet, which are absent on the stock photo. But maybe it's the K4 with a bigger engine, needing better ventilation for the engine compartment.

It does appear on Google Maps, yes.  And there's a fence adjacent now which doesn't appear on Google.

Man that would take some serious body replacement work just to start.  Who knows if the engine is even good.  Probably cheaper to buy a newer truck than trying to revive that old rust bucket.

I believe you are right about it being an Austin Loadstar, at least from a cursory look at the pictures.

From a peek inside the engine compartment through one of the many holes, I'm pretty sure the entire transmission is missing. This old wreck is beyond saving.

That would be a real project for some truly hardcore restorer Can't name many other car restoration projects where the first step would be to get rid of the weeds
