Hi DJI.
I just purchased my first drone (DJI Mini 3 Pro) and i am very satisfied with the product however i found out that there is no way to lock the drone (block it from taking off from an unauthorized person). This is a huge problem. What happens if any unauthorized person takes my drone without my permission and flies in brohibited areas or worse gets involved in an accident ?

Please at least allow us to lock the drone with a password.
This will prevent anyone else but the drone owner/registered pilot to fly it.

This will cover the following cases:
  • Prevent takeoff when a drone is stolen and is used improperly.
  • Prevent takeoff when a drone is used by any other person family or friends.

The drone should not be able to takeoff until a valid password is defined.

I hope you understand the severity of this problem and implement this feature ASAP.
Waiting for your feedback.

Thanks.

Several years later and several million DJI drones flying and this "problem" hasn't proved to be severe so far.
But don't worry ... I'm sure a DJ moderator will tell you this idea will be cascaded to the relevant team for consideration.

I sometimes wonder how a company so advanced as dji doesn't know how to properly implement a proper lock screen solution when it's android.

Hello there,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. If your drone is flyaway, you can perform a Flyaway Report through the DJI Fly App. Producing a Flyaway Report is to help mark an aircraft as lost. Once the flyaway aircraft report is confirmed, the aircraft will be prohibited from any further use. For more detailed information, please kindly refer to our Drone Flyaway Guide: https://support.dji.com/help/con ... ;paperDocType=paper

We appreciate your suggestion about implementing a lock screen solution for drones, and we will pass this feedback on to the relevant team. Thank you for your understanding and support of DJI.

Ok, but what will happen if someone steals my drone? Of if my grandmamma finds it and will want to fly?

I have my official personal registration number entered in the drone as required by law, so the drone can be remotely identified by authorities as mine while it's flying.  What will happen when the unauthorized person will fly in prohibited area or causes accident? I'll be punished by law because I'm the drone owner. It could be expensive.

Drone should be locked by a secret code and it should not be possible to fly it without entering the code. If someone would lose the code he could reset the drone to factory setting what should also clear my personal registration number. That way I couldn't be accused by authorities if someone else manages to fly my drone.

Hi Stanislav,

Thank you for your response.

Producing a Flyaway Report is to help mark an aircraft as lost. Once the flyaway aircraft report is confirmed, the aircraft will be prohibited from any further use. You cannot cancel the submission. So we completely understand your concerns. We are very grateful for your suggestion to add a password feature to the drone. Please also keep an eye on the DJI official website for future updates.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
