Save a point in the sky to revisit later?

I do mostly photography where I blend bracketed exposures from different time of the day into a final photo. This technique is known as lumionsity blending and it produces stunning images such as this:The sky was shot during golden hour but the building lights are shot from a much later time at the exact same angle. Two images are then blended to produce the above.

This is my ideal workflow:
1. Save a point in the sky
2. Shoot a bracketed exposure
3. Go fly around to explore
4. Come back precisely to the same point in the sky and point the camera at the same exact angle as #1
5. Shoot another bracketed exposure.

Is this possible with Mavic 3? Can we support waypoints outside of hyperlapse?

Until true waypoints are implemented, as short saved hyperlapse is the only solution. Not ideal, but gets you there.

Can you explain? Still pretty new to this.

Sure.
In Hyperlapse you can save the route. So you create a short hyperlapse that ends in the exact position angle you want, save it, and then you will be able to execute it later. Naturally, it would waste time and media space, but it would get you to the same very spot every time, bar GPS margin error.

Oh I get it. So I just get into the route that has one stop. When my hyper lapse finishes, my drone will be in the same position every time so I can switch to AEB or other modes if I want.

Thank you!

Yeah. You can even choose not to move at all. just rotate.

Alternatively, if you chose a rotate-only option and you have some distinct anchor/landmark, like a spire, or a specific window, or anything distinctive, really, that you can align with the grid, then you can simply start Hyperlapse and then immediately cancel it, and complete the orientation by hand using that anchor/grid. Would be faster, methinks.

Tried it out yesterday. This works wonderful. Thank you for the tip.

I did notice that after landing and switching batteries, the orientation of my drone can sometimes be slightly off (a few degrees usually). So I think both your technique + manual alignment works best.

For best alignment use explore mode all the up to x28!
