Is it smart enough not to run the batteries down to zero, which I understand is bad for LiPo.

These are Li-ion batteries, not sure if that makes a difference, i don't know squat about better types lol

This process might cause harm to the said battery and might destroy it as well. That doesn't answer my question about the charging hub having the smarts to stop a battery being fully discharged.  It just re-iterates the statement that it shouldn't be.

When flying the drone, the pilot will be constantly monitoring the battery level, plus the software has the smarts to initiate an RTH if it gets too low, both of which means the battery will never be fully discharged.

Using the charging hub as a power bank (which is fully documented) is a different situation.  You will just plug it in and leave it, not keep an eagle eye on it minute by minute.

My battery label says "Lithium Ion Polymer"

Whilst the batteries say LiPo, the latest PDF has:-

Battery Type Li-ion
Chemical System LiNiMnCo02

Not sure where I got the idea that they were Li-Po and didn't actually check.    But with Li-Ion, it appears to be even worse if you fully discharge them, as I found this:

If a lithium-ion battery is discharged below 2.5 volts per cell, a safety circuit built into the battery opens and the battery appears to be dead. The original charger will be of no use. Only battery analyzers with the boost function have a chance of recharging the battery.

So, the question about the charging hub not allowing a full discharge could be even more relevant.

Hey guys, it is a LiPo  as written on the battery label.
Li Ion only might be a little misleading as the "Chemical System LiNiMnCo02" is a LI-MNC battery and is not very well known by the average person.
Li Ion is the global naming for several kind of lithium based batteries incl. LiPo's.
Po stands for polymer and only describes the consystency of the electrolyte which is used in the battery design.
The working range of all these batteries is typically between 3.1 and 4.2. Everything  below or above can damage the battery more or less depenending on the exact chemical and physical design.
LiPo or better Lithium Ion Polymer batteries are less explosive and there for more secure than other Lithium batterie designs.

All the batteries have protection circuits built-in and battery management system.
That's why it's called "intelligent flight battery"

So no, you don't need to worry about over discharge.

Except that the drone manual says:

Over-Discharge Protection: Discharging stops automatically to prevent excess discharge when the
battery is not in use. Over-discharge protection is not enabled when the battery is in use.

Pay particular attention to the last sentence.  Although the manual also states:

Hibernation Mode: If the battery cell voltage is lower than 3.0 V or the battery level is less than 10%,
the battery enters Hibernation mode to prevent over-discharge. Charge the battery to wake it from
hibernation.

So the manual kinda contradicts itself in the same section.

So without any further information, which would you believe.
