Radio Caroline:  Looking out to sea.....

Another amazing shot DA.    Those are some very ominous cloud formations.  I would think that tall antenna would be an attractor for lightning.  Interesting reading on Radio Caroline.

Gosh. That’s a good point.  I have no idea how you’d deal with that on a boat.

I think that since the boat is pretty well 'grounded', it is a perfect Faraday cage. Nothing should really happen.

That this legendary, former pirate radio station still exists. Crazy. Even though we were too far away in Germany to listen to them, they were pop music heroes of our youth. Very nice photo!

Funny I was just reading up on it.  Seems there’s all sorts of systems they can choose from including not use the boat as the negative.

Looks like the tip of the mast has an air terminal to direct lightening through a known path,  probably to protect the radio transmitters.  

Good to know that the legend reached as far as Germany.

It was swinging around on the mooring,  I suspect the tide was on the change,  when we were walking back I noticed it had turned around which normally means the tide has turned.    Although I was surprised it only had a port mooring and nothing at the stern.

Yes.  Even at the local moorings all the boats get two lines.
