I think for those who want to mount an action cam to a FPV drone, the Avata isn't the best choice, especially from a price and weight point. Right?
Looking wat the sample footage the gyroflow did a good job. But if you want rocksteady and need to fly near people this would be good.

The question is, what does the GoPro add, that the Avata alone doesn't have.
Is that worth the extra weight and money? There are other FPVs available, that might not be much cheaper in combination with a GoPro, but there are options, that are much lighter, when using a small Insta360.
And regarding flying near people ... don't forget the drone rules, where the weight plays a major role, if you want to avoid illegal flights ... not to forget, that added weight (GoPro) will result in reduced flight times.
Considering all this together, from my point of view, adding a GoPro to the Avata is nonsense, sorry.
PS: Just one alternative to compare with / think of:

But if you want a gps assist small cinewhoop there’s not many to choose from. And of course DJI don’t supply a mount to do this so he’s the first guy to try.

From what I know, above FlyWoo FPV drone is also available in a GPS version and it’s super light.
But what was my main thought is, isn‘t the video of the Avata not good enough, that a GoPro is urgently needed?!
Maybe it‘s the best recommendation to wait, what the next firmware updates will bring. Compare to the Mini 3 … here several features were missing without the firmware updates, that made it already a much better drone, than the initial release, right?

The Avata doesn't have an official camera mount, and he's designed and made one and then used hot to compare the footage, he no doubt will be selling mounts any day now.

Yes, so I have heard, its also common on other gopros and I recently saw a video where someones P2 also overheated.
P2 does get hot indeed.
I have a feeling that the data stream is one of the issues.
When using an HDMI to record my DSLR output, it did not get warm at all.

But you've never had it shutdown due to heat I assume?

I don't know a ton about GoPro but isn't the Bones version lighter therefor eliminating some of the issues brought up here?
Im not sure how you would power the bones version here as normally you connect it to the battery pack.
We are about to mount a Go Pro to our Avata. Not only is the GoPro giving you much better quality…but combine that with the fact that there has been no ND filters available for this thing since it’s release has left it sitting on the shelf collecting dust.
Since waiting on ND filters for weeks, we purchased a Cinelog35 drone to shoot our video.
A drone without ND filters available is essentially useless…unless you’re flying in the dark.
Never seen anything like it…when there are plenty of ND filters out there for a GoPro or any other drone.
