So I set the home point on a solid surface - and return to home lands but usually 2-3 ft away from the EXACT point. I had my phantom land like a MORON into an object and of course the props just bashing into the object and crashing

most civilian gps assisted devices have accuracy of + or - 30 feet, the p3 is around 10' in my case so far. so it is not going to land exactly on a dime!!

I would suggest NEVER letting it RTH all the way to a landing. I guess you learned this lesson the hard way. I always take control prior to the "bird" even getting close to the ground. My RTH is 55 meters due to tall trees so I take command about 40 meters.

2- 3 feet away?
Wow.  That's horrible.

Maybe DJI can just launch their own GPS satellites and have military grade accuracy for Phantom owners.

From the two threads you have created, I understand that you really really need to RTFM

If you're hitting something 2-3 feet away from where you took off, at least read the quick-start guide that says to fly in an open space...

Download the manual, read it.
