i think many of us will come to understand that the add on module might be the way to go.  unless you are fully on board with rid and you're in love with it, you might not be happy that your drone is likely compliant a year in advance.  we don't know for sure what the filing mean but if rid is completely up and running and broadcasting at the end of the week (and you cannot turn it off), how do you feel about that?  pilots do not have to comply until this time next year...at a minimum.

i've never seen an add-on module and i don't know how it works but i have to believe it offers pilots the opportunity to make "choices."

I believe that it is currently not enabled but would need a software update to make it functional. Do we know if anyone has the capability to monitor RID yet other than the FCC, I would think it hasn't rolled out yet as you stated we have at least until next year to comply. Do I like RID, no I think it is over reaching and anyone wanting to get around it can purchase an older drone or make their own. I think the big reason for this is Corporations like Amazon trying to push package delivery via drone.

i agree there will be several methods to subvert remote id; however, most of us are not willing to fly illegally so i haven't been addressing those methods as viable alternatives.  i would much rather delay or cancel the date(s), reduce the amount of information, or severely limit access.  several manufacturers have said they are ready, skydio says they are ready.  does ready mean it's capable but we won't turn it on until 2023?  i don't know but how will we know for sure unless, like you said, someone is monitoring the feed.  guess we'll have to wait and see but i would rather not forgo a sw update for over a year just to avoid it.

Really wasn’t worried that the Air2s wouldn’t be compliant.   Worse case it would have given me a reason to buy a new drone.

Because DJI drones already do a type of Remote ID (aeroscope), it shouldn't affect battery life anymore than it already does.
